CHALLENGEDAYTONA, the inaugural CHALLENGEFAMILY triathlon festival of events set to take place at Daytona International Speedway, proudly announces a partnership with The Running Elements. As the Official Retail Running Store of CHALLENGEDAYTONA, community-focused The Running Elements will serve as a hub for the event, encouraging group-training activities in addition to providing top-quality running and triathlon gear.
Juan and Katrina Guevara, the husband and wife team behind The Running Elements, embody the enthusiasm and support that athletes around the world have come to expect from CHALLENGEFAMILY races. “It is great to see the CHALLENGEFAMILY bringing such a diverse event to Volusia County,” says Katrina Guevara. “The festival weekend will offer many events for all ages and ability levels to choose from. We’re proud to support the growth of fitness and family-friendly events coming to Daytona International Speedway and ONE DAYTONA!”
CHALLENGEFAMILY CEO Zibi Szlufcik is equally encouraged by this new partnership, as The Running Elements supports numerous local races and training programs and is a trusted resource for area athletes. “The Running Elements is known throughout Volusia County as the go-to spot for all things endurance sports. They’re more than a retailer; they’re a community—exactly the right fit for our exciting new race,” says Szlufcik.
The CHALLENGEDAYTONA festival weekend, scheduled for December 7-9, 2018, will be the first of its kind at Daytona International Speedway. The iconic venue provides an unprecedented opportunity for athletes to swim, bike, and run in an atmosphere rich with sporting history and inspiration—including bike and run laps on the world-famous Speedway track.
In addition to Daytona International Speedway’s numerous attractions, including the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America, the DAYTONA 500 Champion’s Walk of Fame, and ONE DAYTONA shopping and entertainment, the surrounding area offers limitless family-friendly activities and beachfront relaxation.“We’re excited to show off our home town,” says Juan Guevara. “You can’t pick a better venue for a triathlon. We look forward to racing and having all the athletes see what Volusia County can offer.”
CHALLENGEDAYTONA truly provides something for everyone, with Sprint and Middle Distance Triathlons, the Junior Challenge kids’ race, Relay categories, Duathlon and Aquabike events, 10K run and 5K run/walk events, and the all-new NASCAR-inspired Pitstop Challenge. As an incentive for the more serious competitors, the top six male and female finishers in each Middle Distance Triathlon age group will qualify for THECHAMPIONSHIP, to be held on June 2nd 2019 at the x-bionic sphere in Samorin, Slovakia.
